NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JEWISH LEGISLATORS
Spring 2022
United States
Max Libman shared his project with members of the National Association of Jewish Legislators (NAJL). NAJL is an association of over 200 Jewish state legislators from across the country and across the political spectrum.

ILLINOIS HOLOCAUST MUSEUM

Max Libman moderated a panel of a Holocaust survivor and three generations of descendants, including Max. This was the first time in the museum’s history that it hosted four generations on a panel together.

SOCIAL SCIENCEÂ CLUB

Max Libman presented to the Social Science Club in the spring. This women's club was founded in 1888 and has been in existence for over a century.

40TH QUAD CITIES HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE

The film Holocaust Documentary: Ann's Story created by Max Libman was showcased at the Quad Cities Holocaust Remembrance Day event over Zoom to the communities spanning from Iowa to Illinois. This annual event has been held for 40 years, and is believed to be the oldest continuing interfaith Yom HaShoah commemoration in existence.

INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY

Max Libman presented to undergraduate and graduate students, community members, State Senators, and Federal House of Representatives. After the presentation, there was a question and answer session with Max Libman. This virtual event was organized by Hillel at the University of Illinois .

ELIE WIESEL COMPETITION

Max Libman's film Holocaust Documentary: Ann's Story was honored in a national competition hosted in Virginia Beach. Each year, the Holocaust Commission invites middle and high school students in grades 6-12 to participate in writing and visual arts competitions named in honor of Nobel Laureate and Holocaust Survivor, Elie Wiesel. In 2021, Max Libman won Chairs Choice Award for his film Be it.

ROTARY CLUB

Max Libman presented to the Rotary Club members of Champaign. Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill and peace around the world. It is a non-political and non-religious organization open to all. Max delivered his presentation, shared his film, and participated in a Q&A session afterwards with the Rotary Club members.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS HOLOCAUST PRESENTATION

Max Libman organized and presented at a community-wide event, which over two hundred people attended, including mayors, religious leaders from all faiths, and University leaders, including the Provost and Vice-Chancellor.

Max Libman presented at a school-wide assembly and shared his film. His presentation concluded with a Q&A and discussion session with the high school students.

THROUGH YOUR EYES EXHIBIT

Max Libman's film A Star was showcased at the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation's Through Your Eyes Exhibit. His film was showcased among the artwork created by other students in the community. He had the opportunity to talk with visitors at the exhibit and explain why he felt sharing a personal story is so important.

Max Libman presented at Campus Middle School For Girls. He shared his presentation at a school-wide assembly, and at the end, he participated in a Q&A and discussion session with the students.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Max Libman presented at the First Presbyterian Church during a Sunday service. He shared his great-grandmother's story and film with the congregation. He also had the opportunity to interact with younger Sunday School students and talk with adult members of the congregation in a reception afterwards. This presentation was live-streamed.

SINAI TEMPLE RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

Max Libman presented at Sinai Temple's Religious School to students in grades 5th through 12th. The students had been learning about the Holocaust, and noted that they found it especially meaningful to hear from someone close in age.

UNIVERSITY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Max Libman's first presentation was to the 4th and 5th-grade class at University Primary School, a University of Illinois affiliated elementary and pre-school. For some students, it was their first time hearing about the Holocaust, and they had the opportunity to ask questions, which helped further the discussion.
